Marilyn Matevia recently completed a PhD in Ethics and Social Theory at Graduate Theological Union, where she focused her studies and writing on environmental and animal ethics.  In a previous graduate student life she studied comparative cognition, with a focus on nonhuman primates.  She has another blog, Left at the Altar, and on very rare occasions contributes to The Moral Mindfield.  She now works as a web manager and science writer for a nonprofit animal welfare organization, and as part-time adjunct instructor at a local liberal arts college.
